The Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) is a voluntary initiative for asset managers committed, in their individual contexts, to supporting investing in line with the global goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions. It provides a platform for voluntary commitments and public disclosures of individual net zero targets and implementation strategies. Through these disclosures, signatories demonstrate how they are addressing climate-related financial risks and capturing the opportunities presented by the transition to a low-carbon economy for their clients and beneficiaries.
Introduction
The Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) is a voluntary initiative for asset managers committed, in their individual contexts, to supporting investing aligned with the global goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions. Since its inception in 2020, NZAM provides a platform for individual voluntary commitments, as well as the voluntary disclosure of climate-related targets and implementation strategies.
The initiative is open to any asset manager globally that is also a member of one of the Network Partners. For more information on how to join, please contact us.
Fiduciary duty
The scope for asset managers to support investing aligned with the global goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions and to meet the commitments set forth above depends on the mandates agreed with clients, and on the enabling environment, in particular the policies and regulations adopted by governments and other public actors relating to climate change, and asset managers are subject always to fiduciary duties as defined in their jurisdictions.
