Supermarket Income REIT (SUPR) commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.

GHG scopes included:

The near-term targets covers Scope 1 & 2 emissions, the net-zero target covers Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions. Included in SUPR’s net-zero target is the Scope 3 emissions of the downstream leased assets emissions (the majority of SUPR’s emissions).

Scope 1: Natural gas consumption used for heating communal areas of sites under SUPR’s operational control.
Scope 2: Electricity consumption used for activities such as car park lighting in communal areas of sites under SUPR’s operational control.
Scope 3: Scope 3 accounts for the vast majority of SUPR’s emissions at more than 99%, the majority of which come from SUPR’s leased properties which sit under scope 3, category 13 downstream leased assets.
