Desjardins Group is the leading cooperative financial group in Canada and the fifth largest cooperative financial group in the world. Desjardins joined the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative in October 2021 and made its Initial Target Disclosure in January 2023.

We calculate our financed emissions with the PCAf methodology for public markets. Thus, we have an official number of our financed carbon footprint for Scope 1 and 2. We also track and analysis our Scope 3 to prepare ourselves to the updated PCAF methodology including Scope 3.

a) The perimeter covers Desjardins’ own assets only Assets form external clients are not included at the moment. Client’s demand for net-zero solutions will dictate the evolution of total AUM to be managed in line with net zero
b) The methodologies are not available for some asset classes (e.g. sovereign bonds, real assets, etc.). As of October 14th 2022, 12.8% of AUM is currently covered by the available methodologies. Scope will increase as methodologies become available over the next few years.

Policy on coal and other fossil fuel investments:

Desjardins committed to a swift divestment from coal, while providing exceptional support to companies in the industry with a clear and firm plan to transition from coal to renewable energy in accordance with Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines. It applies to the same AUM than the Net Zero alignment, 40.5%.
